Inspirational writer Petra Vandecasteele was born in Belgium in 1965 and now lives in South Africa. Her fluency in Dutch, French and English has equipped her to be a freelance travel writer for a leading European magazine, as well as a multilingual creative writer for international corporates.
Petra regularly contributes to leading South African publications, is the author of the books In Celebration of Fynbos (Struik New Holland, 2008) and Enya & James – In The Land Of Magic (Moonshine Media, 2009). She is also the co-founder of Kids of Nature, a registered South African non-profit organisation that inspires parents to reconnect children with nature.
In 2008, Petra won a merit award of excellence for the Caxton group of leading SA publications with her article on Riemvasmaak, a presidential project and SA's first successful land restitution claim after the apartheid. "Very good story, interesting and fabulously researched. Enjoyed the style and the words really bring the place to life."
Petra feels privileged to work from her home Cocagne at the edge of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, or from her 4x4 mobile office during her many travels with her family.A most inspiring environment.
